Benidorm City Council showed its support today for the Civil Guard during the celebrations held in the city to mark Spain's National Day and the Feast of the Virgin of the Pillar, the patron saint of the force.

The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Public Service, Jesús Carrobles, accompanied officers from the Benidorm Traffic Detachment and their families to a midday mass at the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena. Other members of the local government also attended, including regional MP José Ramón González de Zárate. Also present were Senator Agustín Almodóbar; regional MP Manuel Pérez Fenoll; representatives from other security forces—such as National Police Commissioner Luis Manuel Sánchez and Local Police Chief José Carlos Amorós—and the local head of Civil Protection, José Vicente Fuster. They were joined by representatives from numerous local festive, social, and religious organisations, including the 2026 Queens of the Major Patron Saint Festivities (Festes Majors Patronals), Laura Ivars Marín and Carmen Guillem Campos; the President of the Organising Committee, Ramón Cano; and residents of the Foietes-Colonia Madrid neighbourhood, who share a close bond with the Civil Guard.

Following the mass, the mayor and councillors attended a reception hosted by the Civil Guard for families and collaborators in the courtyard of the local barracks. There, the Lieutenant in charge of the Benidorm Traffic Detachment, Manuel Alberto Sánchez, thanked the mayor for the "support and selfless collaboration" that the City Council provides to the Civil Guard in its daily work.
