The works that make up the exhibition, open until October, were donated to the City Council by Cristina Boissie

The widow of the artist Francisco Díaz visits the exhibition in 'La Casilla' that exhibits sketches made by the artist

27 June 2024
La viuda del pintor Francisco Díaz visita en ‘La Casilla’ la muestra que exhibe bocetos realizados por el artista

The collector Cristina Boissie, widow of the painter Francisco Díaz, visited today at l'Espai d'Art 'La Casilla' the exhibition that exhibits a selection of sketches made by the artist in different periods using the gouache technique. During the visit, Boissie was accompanied by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer; and members of the municipal corporation.

'Francisco Díaz: Agua y Papel' has been made from the material that Boissie herself donated to the Benidorm City Council; a legacy of more than 3,000 pieces that includes the family library, furniture and decoration heritage, as well as her husband's collection of oil paintings and drawings.

During the visit, Boissie recalled when some of the sketches that are exhibited on the walls and display cases of 'La Casilla' until next October were illuminated. Some works, all of them, that Francisco Díaz made in watercolor or ink and that served as the basis for his well-known paintings.

These sketches, with quick and concise lines, have the virtue of capturing real life in scenes populated by characters in movement, such as flamenco dancers or the characters of his nudes and in which he also realizes their travels through different points. of Spain and his stay in Paris. In fact, all the works on display revolve around four themes: flamenco, nudes, urban landscape and traditional ceramics.

Francisco Díaz Díaz graduated as a professor of painting and drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Seville and after marrying Cristina Boissie he lived in Seville, Córdoba, Madrid, Antwerp and stayed to live permanently in Santander.

The mayor has praised the mastery and style of Francisco Diaz and once again has recognized and thanked the collector for “the generosity with the people of Benidorm”, whom he has made the custodian of an extensive legacy that has already featured in several exhibitions in different spaces. municipal.
'Francisco Díaz: Water and Paper' can be visited during the weekends.
