The City Council is going to participate in the call for the ‘Plan + Deporte 2021’ with this project, valued at 90,500 euros and which affects the track located in the upper part of the complex
Sports requests a grant from the Provincial Council to rebuild a track in Ciudad Deportiva ‘Guillermo Amor’
The mayor has stressed that "investment in Ciudad Deportiva‘ Guillermo Amor ’has been a constant in the last six years, acting in practically all the infrastructures of the complex to update them and offer the athletes of the city the best spaces." "This track - she has specified - is the only one of those located in the complex that remains to be improved, and that is why we have considered attending the call with this performance".
Cebreros has detailed that "this action goes beyond changing the surface of the track, since its orientation will also be rotated 90º." “This allows us, on the one hand, to create a new access road for emergency vehicles to the upper part of the sports complex from the adjoining pine forest; and on the other, giving the track a lateral sun exposure that favors its use at any time of the day ”, he added.
In addition, the lighting columns will also be renewed "to implement the 'led' system to improve lighting and obtain energy and economic savings".
The councillor has reported that "this project is valued at 90,500 euros." In case of receiving the requested ‘Plan + Sports’ subsidy, the City Council would contribute the remaining 20,500 euros.
On the other hand, Cebreros has advanced that "we are also working to attend a second call for Alicante Provincial Council also focused on sports facilities, and more specifically on the renovation of artificial turf in football fields". The forecast is to request a grant to renovate the lawn of the field annexed to the municipal stadium.
Likewise, the head of Sports recalled that "last January we asked Alicante Provincial Council for a subsidy of 294,360.50 euros within the call for 'Plan + Cerca 2020' to expand 'Raúl Mesa' pavilion and improve accessibility to this sports venue; a performance valued at around 570,000 euros ”. This project plans to expand the pavilion "to the north, occupying the existing municipal land behind the stands of the 'Guillermo Amor' football stadium to the border with Vasco Núñez de Balboa public infant and primary school."
The project includes the replacement of the pavilion's roof and the creation of new stands, which would multiply the pavilion's capacity. On the ground floor of the new bleachers, it is proposed, in turn, to create adapted and fully accessible public toilets, two changing rooms for athletes and another two for collegiate, and warehouses.
