The Cultural Center once again registered a full house in a day that recalled the evolution of the city

The Societat Musical L'Illa pays homage to Pedro Zaragoza with a concert that takes a tour of the history of Benidorm

Concierto de la SM l'Illa de Benidorm.

Societat Musical L'Illa de Benidorm celebrated yesterday the concert 'De illusión también se vive', an appointment that served as a tribute to the former mayor Pedro Zaragoza and that made a journey through the history of Benidorm from the arrival of the first tourists, the beginnings of the tourist promotion of the city or the beginnings of the Song Festival. All this linked to musical works that were in charge of introducing and transporting the attendees to that moment in time.

In a full Cultural Center, the concert was attended by the acting mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, the acting Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, members of the municipal corporation, the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Angélica Morenilla and Daniela Talavera, the president of the Comissió, Vicente Solaz, the president of the Associació de Penyes, Ramón Cano, and relatives of Pedro Zaragoza, including his son Quico and several grandchildren.

Directed by Felipe Juan Lanuza Morales, the program consisted of the following works: 'You Live With Illusion' by Joan Alborch Miñana, 'El sitio de Zaragoza' by Cristóbal Oudrid, 'El Caserío, a prelude to the second act' by Jesus Guridi, 'Peer Gynt. Dawn' by Edvard Grieg, 'Gran Via. Selection' by Federico Chueca and Joaquín Valverde, 'American Patrol' by Glenn Miller and arrangements by Jerry Gray, and various works performed at the Benidorm Song Festival.

The act was intended to add to the recognition that Pedro Zaragoza has received in the last year. Thus, he revealed himself when upon his arrival at the mayor's office he found a coastal town that lived from fishing, a sector in regression, and with residual tourism. Also how he implemented a development model focused on the service sector and a General Plan to order the city to receive visitors which is still an example of sustainability today. It was also reported how he brought water to the city, his admiration for Admiral Guillén Tato, and other lesser-known aspects of his life brought closer by some relatives and people related to him such as his son Quico Zaragoza, his grandchildren Almudena and Octavio or María José Guillén. , granddaughter of Guillén Tato.

The concert was closed by Mayor Toni's Pérez speech, who once again praised the figure of Pedro Zaragoza, his vision of the future, and the well-deserved tributes and recognition that have been paid to him in recent months.
