The giant board is visiting different schools in the city in parallel with the distribution of the board game among the students

Schools are enriching the 'Seagull Game' with contributions to make it more inclusive and interactive

The giant board of the "Seagull Game," developed by Benidorm City Council through the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, is touring various educational centres in the city to deepen the dissemination and understanding of local history, culture, and traditions among the city's youngest residents. And on this particular trip through Benidorm, "we are receiving suggestions and contributions to enrich the game and make it more inclusive and interactive, which will allow a much larger number of students to enjoy it," said Ana Pellicer, the councillor for the department.

The councillor thanked the students and teachers who have already had the opportunity to play with this large 7x7 board for their participation and suggestions. She also made a special mention of the staff at Doble Amor occupational centre, "who have sent us up to 63 rules or instructions, one for each square of the game, for the players to follow when they land on the different squares," she explained.

“‘Imitate the sound of a dog and walk slowly like a turtle’; ‘Say something that floats in the sea’; ‘Go under something (a table, a chair, a classmate's legs, etc.); or ‘Sing a Benidorm Fest song’ are some of the rules included in this list,” she explained. In addition to simply moving spaces forward, the game is enriched with tests, questions, and actions that make it more fun, especially for people with disabilities and students with special needs or in Early Childhood Education.”

Ana Pellicer recalled that throughout this week, the City Council has distributed 4,000 copies of this board game to primary school children in all the city's schools, “so they can take them home and share moments of play and fun with their families, while expanding their knowledge of Benidorm, its history, and its traditions.”

He also indicated that interested schools, local entities, or associations can request a date for this giant "Seagull Game" board to be moved to a location so their students or users can play. To do so, they should contact the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage by sending an email to biblioteca@benidorm.org or by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 628128249. This will allow them to schedule dates and enjoy this game, either in parks or other public spaces in Benidorm, or in their schools.
