Neptuno square will become a great backbone for the citizens around Alfredo Corral neighborhood
Benidorm reaffirms its commitment to mobility and accessibility around Alfredo Corral neighborhood with the comprehensive renovation of Plaza Neptuno. These works, which will begin next Monday, within the framework of Benidorm's Sustainable and Integrating Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI), are part of the improvement activities in the southern area of Jaime I.
"We act in the residential neighborhoods of Benidorm to improve the public space of our city and in this line, today we declare the start of the comprehensive remodeling of Plaza Neptuno," explained the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez during this morning's visit, in which he has been accompanied by the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, and members of the local corporation. “We will install much more large trees to expand the shaded areas, new fully accessible street furniture and we will renew the luminaire with LED lighting, thanks to a grant from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE)”
These works, co-financed by the European FEDER funds, "follow our great project of sewing the neighborhoods of Benidorm for pedestrians, linking Plaza Neptuno with Avenida Almendros, Calle Marte, and Calle Maravall by roads with no sidewalks."
With the remodeling of this square, Benidorm thus responds to one of the neighborhood requests of the EDUSI citizen participation process, which was also included in the participatory budgets. The works, like those that are already underway in the area of Calle Maravall and adjacent ones, will improve the aesthetic image of the neighborhood, as well as the comfort of the many residents who pass through this square every day.
The action in Plaza Neptuno is part of the work to improve mobility and accessibility in the southern area of Jaime I, an action by EDUSI in Benidorm. The works have an investment amounting to €1,052,591.96, of which the European Union contributes 40% through FEDER funds.
The actions, framed in Benidorm's Sustainable and Integrating Urban Development Strategy, respond to two strategic objectives: the second, which seeks to promote sustainability by reducing CO2 emissions; and the third, which promotes the recovery and improvement of public spaces for citizens.
