City Hall and the Valencian Pilota Federation come together to promote autochthonous sport in schools
More than 450 students participate in the 'Trobada de Pilota a l'Escola' in Benidorm
Guillermo Amor Sports City has hosted today the last meeting of the 'Trobades de Pilota a l'Escola 2023', organized by the Generalitat and the Valencian Pilota Federation, with the collaboration of the Department of Sports directed by Mariló Cebreros.
More than 450 fourth year Primary students from Benidorm, Altea, Benissa, Callosa d'en Sarrià, Oriola, Orxeta, Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Relleu, Sella, Senija and Vila Joiosa have met, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Guillermo Amor to share experiences and practice his favorite sport, 'pilota', deeply rooted in Benidorm and its region. The CEIP Puig Campana and Aitana have been the local centers that have participated.
The acting mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Sports, together with other members of the government team, made a tour around the sports city in which the vice president of the Jocs Federation also participated to Ratlles de Alicante, Juanra Such. During the same, they were interested in the opinions of students and teachers on the practice and promotion of pilota.
The inter-school day of coexistence is a project sponsored by the Generalitat, the federation and the municipalities involved that seeks to promote the Valencian pilota, an autochthonous sport par excellence, among children of school age.
The initiative has the support of professional players who visit the schools where they share their experiences and explain how varieties of this sport are played, such as raspall, galotxa, and others.
