El Castillo, gala stage for dinner in honour of Sant Jaume, patron saint of Benidorm

Benidorm continues with the celebrations in honour of the patron saint of the city, Sant Jaume. El Castillo has been the place chosen for the celebration of the traditional gala dinner in homage to the apostle.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Parties, Jesús Carrobles, and other companions of corporation have participated in the agape in the company of the presidents of the Comissió de les Festes Majors Patronals and of the Associació de Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', Paco Marín and Dani Luque; the queens Mayor and Infantil, Fátima Carrobles and Anna Calbo, accompanied of representatives of festive, cultural and social associations of the city.

The events organized by the Comissió in honor of the patron saint of Benidorm will continue tomorrow, Monday 23, with a concert, also at the Castle, in charge of the Rondalla of the ARC 'La Barqueta'. On Wednesday, 25th July, the day of Sant Jaume, a parade will go through the most central streets of Benidorm starting at 6.30 pm to finish, an hour later, in the Plaza del Torrejó. It will be then when the people will finally know which will be the poster announcer of the Festes Majors Patronals of 2018, work made byt the local artist Marina Sanchis.

At 20.30 a religious ceremony will take place at the parish church of Sant Jaume y Santa Anna. Once finalized, will proceed to appoint the Mayorals of Honor of 2018, the Estampeta will be fired at the doors of the temple and the queens and ladies will dance 'El Peuet', a typical Benidorm dance. The celebration of the day of the patron saint will end with the launch of a fireworks castle by the Piróctenia Valenciana. Finally, next Saturday 28 of July, at 9:00 pm., in the Plaza del Castillo, the Colla de Xirimiters they will be concentrated to end the festivities in honour of the patron saint of Benidorm.
