The City Council has subsidized 100% of the cost of its participation to 16 students
Diploma for 87 Primary school children who have participated in the Summer Educational Support Program
The Summer Educational Support Program (PAEV) has closed this morning with the deliver of diplomas to its 87 members in an act that took place at Casa del Fester and which included the participation of the Mayor, Toni Pérez (who also holds the competences in Education), and the councilor for Youth and Children, Ana Pellicer.
Toni Perez, before distributing the certificates, addressed the children and told them that they have "taken advantage of the summer better than anyone else" because students "with some subjects not very well done have been helped to start next course better, and those who were doing very well, have spent a few hours this summer learning even more. " The mayor emphasized that this is "the education we are able to offer with 100% municipal resources so that the children of Benidorm have a more promising future."
The PAEV 2018 has been taught at CEIP 'Leonor Canalejas' from July 5 to today, August 29, from Monday to Friday. "A downtown school," stressed Toni Pérez, "that allows us to reach boys and girls from all over Benidorm and in an equidistant manner." The mayor also stressed that the classrooms in this school are equipped with air conditioning, thanks to the municipal investment made in it in 2016 so that the classes could be carried out normally, despite the high summer temperatures.
The activities have been divided into two sessions of one hour dedicated to support or reinforcement in mathematics, Spanish, Valencian and English. Two shifts have also been established. In the first, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Second, Fourth and Fifth year of Primary school children participated. In the second, from 11.30 to 13.30, students of First, Third and Sixth.
The PAEV is an initiative of the Department of Education that aims to provide support to primary students who have not achieved the objectives duirng the course and also those who, having done well, want to strengthen their knowledge by taking advantage of the holiday period. The activity is subsidized by Benidorm City Council, which provides the professional teaching staff, materials and facilities for children and families. In this year's edition, thanks to the youth employment promotion programs in which the City Council has participated, the teaching team has been reinforced with the hiring of three teachers.
