Benidorm begins drafting projects for the new multipurpose building for the Leonor Canalejas school and the EPA
Benidorm City Council has begun the contracting procedure for the drafting of the project for the construction of the new multipurpose building for Leonor Canalejas public school and the Adult Permanent School (EPA), as reported by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who is also responsible for the Education area. The beginning of this file comes once the Ministry of Education has already issued a resolution in which it "accepts to delegate to the City Council the competence to build this educational infrastructure"; a document that entered the local administration last Monday.
Pérez indicated that "this implementation project will be based on the basic one that was sent to the Ministry of Education to benefit from the Edificant program", launched by the Generalitat to leave punctually in the hands of the municipalities the competence for the construction of educational infrastructures, thus streamlining its execution.
The mayor explained that "last Monday the Councilor for Urban Development, Lourdes Caselles, and I commissioned the technicians to write the specifications that should govern the contracting of this project, as well as technical advice as necessary" . Once this constructive project is available, the works will be auctioned, which will be "extensive" since the contest must be published in the Official Journal of the European Union (DO). Perez has clarified that the publication in the DO obeys the amount of the tender, above three million euros.
The project proposed by the City Council involves building a ground floor building plus three heights in the space occupied by the former homes of teachers -derribadas by the Consistory, with prior authorization from the Ministry, after detecting problems in the structure of one of the blocks- . The mayor recalled that on the ground floor will house spaces for Leonor Canalejas school as a dining room, kitchen, multipurpose room and toilets; while the top three will be for the EPA, thus ending the provisional situation of this center ", which was temporarily installed in El Torrejó in 2010.
According to the resolution dictated by the conseller Vicent Marzà, the autonomic government will finance this work with 3,762,467.75 euros in three annual payments. For this year it has been planned an amount of 853,890.50 euros; just over 2.5 million by 2019; and 363,572.15 euros have been reserved for 2020.
Pérez clarified that "we are going to give the maximum speed to this emblematic educational project", and added "it is the wish of this government team to have resolved before the end of the year the award and the start of the works". In this regard, has indicated that "this delay" in the resolution of delegation of powers leaves the local administration "very tight deadlines", but has relied on the "technical and political capacity" of the City Council will allow to start the works within of the planned calendar.
