In addition to first aid medical material, non-perishable food and thermal, hygiene and shelter material are also required

The City Council maintains the four collection points for humanitarian aid for Ukraine

Benidorm City Council is going to maintain until next Friday, March 11, the four collection points for humanitarian aid that were set up last week to collaborate with the Ukrainian people. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that "in addition to extending the collection period, we also do the same with the type of material, given the latest needs communicated by the Consulate of Ukraine to the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces ( FVMP).

Thus, "in addition to first aid medical material, non-perishable food, thermal, hygiene and shelter material can also be delivered at the points set up by the City Council." This material can be delivered until this Friday from 09:00 to 20:00 at Palau d'Esports l'Illa (Partida Salt de l'Aigua), at the Casa del Fester (3 La Biga street), and at the social centers ' La Torreta' (Ciudad Real Avenue 6) and 'José Llorca Linares' (Goya Street).

In addition, from the City Council, "we continue to coordinate the collection in educational centres -CEIPs, IES and Municipal Nursery Schools- in collaboration with the educational communities themselves, which from the beginning have offered to collaborate in this solidarity action".

According to the needs transferred by the Consulate of Ukraine, thermal underwear is required due to the harsh weather conditions; as well as hygiene material: wet wipes, compresses and tampons and hygiene kits that include razors, toothpaste, brushes and soap, etc.
Material can also be provided to supply shelters such as 'karemats' -foam mats-, tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, mats, tents, tent heaters, heaters, batteries, power banks, generators and lanterns.

In the food section, non-perishable food will be collected, such as canned food, nuts, milk-free chocolate, energy bars, cookies, coffee and tea, baby food such as jars and powdered milk, and drinking water. Other products such as disposable tableware -plates, spoons, knives and glasses-; and items such as mobile phones -both new and used in good condition-, 'walkie-talkies', radio transmitters, radios -may be used-, laptops and tablets -with the maximum battery life possible-, containers for liquids with a capacity of 10 and 20 litres and resistant backpacks.

The mayor has indicated that "according to the information that they have transferred to us late in the morning from the FVMP, at this time first aid medical material and non-perishable food are required as a priority." Likewise, in the same announcement, it is noted that "the solidarity of the citizenship has made it possible to receive clothing and blankets in sufficient quantity, for this reason, thermal-type material is required."

Toni Pérez has reported that "at the moment, work is already being done on the classification and preparation of all the first aid medical material that the population and different organizations, groups and companies contributed last week to send it as soon as possible to the logistics centre of Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante, from where its shipment to Ukraine will be coordinated”.

In addition, he recalled that "last week the City Council opened a registry for all individuals who want to make their homes available to refugees from Ukraine, providing a housing solution for people who arrive in Spain fleeing the Russian invasion". To enrol in this registry, interested persons can fill out the form inserted in the municipal website (www.benidorm.org) or contact the RAC telephone number -900 701 322-. This telephone number is also available to groups or companies that organize collections of material or that wish to contribute.
