After ordering yesterday the closure of the bathing areas, the mayor issues an edict in which this measure is extended to the entire beach to prevent the transmission of Coronavirus

The City Council closes completely beaches and coves in Benidorm

14 March 2020
El Ayuntamiento cierra totalmente las playas y calas de Benidorm

Benidorm City Council has proceeded this morning to the total closure of beaches and coves in the city. In an edict, the mayor, Toni Pérez, recalled that yesterday the closure of the bathing areas was ordered, a measure that today has been extended to the whole of the seafront with the "priority objective" of "avoiding transmission, contagion and spreading of the coronavirus, Covid-19 ".

In an institutional statement, Pérez pointed out that closing the city's beaches and coves "is one of the most difficult decisions a mayor can make," but he is "sure" of "having the understanding and responsibility of all of us who are currently in Benidorm ”.

Likewise, it has been appealed to "the responsibility, prudence, civility and solidarity" of citizenship "in the fulfillment to the letter" of all the self-protection measures dictated by the health authorities, as well as those ordered by the different Administrations, including this restriction that affects Levante, Mal Pas and Poniente beaches and the coves of Tio Ximo and l'Almadrava.

The total closure of the beaches is in addition to the prevention measures adopted yesterday in relation to the suspension of activities and the closure of municipal facilities that were communicated to the public in an edict and that will be effective until further notice. p>

Specifically, yesterday the suspension and temporary closure of the Early Childhood Services Network, Infant Schools and SAPI, of the Music and Dance Conservatories, TAPIS and the Early Attention Service were agreed. In the municipal Social, Civic-Neighborhood and Socio-cultural Centers, the programmed activities are suspended, ordering the closure of such centers. Only decentralized basic and specific primary care services are maintained in their respective centers and "exclusively for users of such services".

The municipal network of museums (Boca del Calvari, Hort de Colón and Museu Marítim) and libraries was also ordered to close. In addition, Espai Jove programs and School Games in municipal sports schools were suspended, as well as all municipal sports facilities are closed

.

Likewise, taking into account its itinerant nature and the gathering of people, the municipal market in Foietes has also been suspended until further notice. Also until a new order, the guided visits to the municipal facilities are cancelled, as well as the transfer of municipal spaces to third parties.

Also it is recommended the postponement of private events of association, social, professional, festival, cultural, sporting, etc., and the organising entities have been also requested to follow this recommendation in their venues.

All measures may be extended, reduced or modified depending on the evolution of the health circumstances that motivate them.

Both, the edict emited yesterday and today, the City Council insists that in order to "minimize irrigation situations" population adopt these self-protection measures against the COVID-;collected in www.san.gva.es/coronavirus and that any contingency related to the virus eventuality contact the 900 300 55.
