Carlos Mazón reaffirms the commitment of the Provincial Council with the city of Benidorm
The president of Alicante Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, today has visited Benidorm after the completion, a few days ago, of the redevelopment work in Polop Street. Mazón, along with the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, have been able to share their first impressions directly with the neighbors, after more than a decade of demands.
“We once again show - Mazón said - how we are aware of improving people's quality of life and their environment; which is what the Provincial Council is for, not only for the big things, or for those that fill the headlines of the newspapers. ”The president has emphasized the“ very popular ”character of this street in Colonia Madrid and the support that this investment can mean for key sectors of the city such as restaurants or hotels.
For the president of the council it has been "a great satisfaction" to be able to greet people directly and "to be able to see how happy they are" after the improvements in "quality of life and how their environment is improving." “That,” he specified, “is the most satisfactory for us. Carlos Mazón has promised to continue making investments in the city “the investments that people need” with the collaboration “and great effort” of Benidorm City Council.
For his part, Toni Pérez thanked Mazón for his visit and his commitment to the city with investments from the Provincial Council, as in Polop street. "A work - he has pointed out in which there has been great neighborhood participation" and "in high demand".
Today, Polop street is completely renovated, converted into "a friendly space for life in Benidorm", with an aesthetic "chosen by the neighbors in a participatory process." And not only from the outside, since a good part of the action has been carried out in the subsoil, improving the water pipes, or telephone, gas or optic fiber. The exterior has also been renovated with smart lighting, a lamppost that has, for example, video cameras or Wi-fi transmission point.
The remodeling of Polop street has involved an investment of 143,000 euros, more than 85% (125,000), have been provided by the Provincial Council of Alicante.
