Benidorm acogerá del 25 al 27 de junio la sexta edición del festival de danza ‘Les Ones’

On June 25, 26, and 27, Benidorm will once again host the sixth edition of the "Les Ones" Street Dance Festival, presented this morning by the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and the festival's founder, Lidia Lara. The Councillor stated that the festival "marks the beginning of Benidorm's summer cultural activities."

The festival will once again take place at Plaza de SS MM Los Reyes de España and Plaza del Castell, chosen for their high visibility. "These are street performances designed to showcase dance to our residents and visitors," explained Pérez, who invited "citizens, tourists, and dance lovers in general to attend this festival, which is free for everyone." This sixth edition will feature professional dance companies as well as local dance schools, and all workshops and performances will be free of charge.

The festival, as detailed by Lidia Lara, will begin on Thursday, the 25th, at 8:30 p.m. with a showcase of local dance schools and Benidorm Municipal Conservatory at Plaza de SS MM Los Reyes de España. To conclude the day, a new addition to the program will be a performance of ‘La nit de Sant Joan’ by the Alicante Conservatory's Youth Company, followed by a professional solo performance by Joel Mesa, titled ‘Tararero,’ inspired by traditional folk songs.

Friday the 26th will begin with a workshop led by Ignacio Fizona at the Cultural Centre from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. “Ignacio participated in the first edition when he was finishing his studies, and now he is a highly acclaimed dancer,” said Lara. In the afternoon, Claudia Ferrando Sanz will present ‘Nueva creación’ (New Creation), followed by the solo performance ‘Despliegue de la penumbra’ (Unfolding of the Shadows), featuring Ignacio Tizona and Lucía Moraleda.

The festival will conclude on Saturday, the 27th. The day will begin with a workshop led by Chey Jurado, “a figure we have been trying to secure for a long time.” It will run from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will continue at 8:30 PM at Plaza del Castell with ‘No’, performed by La Venidera company, and will end with a performance of ‘Asceta’, also by Chey Jurado.

Jaime Jesús Pérez emphasised at the presentation that the celebration of this now well-established festival is “one of the most important and impactful initiatives of the Department of Culture to promote and encourage contemporary dance in the city.” Lidia Lara reminded attendees that to register for the festival workshops, “which are free,” registration must be done through the festival's Instagram account.
