Benidorm starts renovation work in Elche Park on Monday
The comprehensive remodeling works of Elche Park begin next Monday, June 3, as has announced today by the acting mayor, Toni Pérez, who recalled that this performance valued at 700,000 euros is included in the project of 'Improvement of Benidorm's Universal Accessibility and Sustainability '. A project that in total amounts to 1,992,000 euros and has a grant of 950,000 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante within the line of aid to local entities for financially sustainable investments.
The mayor recalled that the complete remodeling of the Elche Park provides "to maintain the current appearance of trails, although incorporating the same imitation material from the Foietes Park; the implementation of rainwater network, which is currently lacking, to prevent accumulation of water; the reform of the ramps and access stairs to the beach; renovate the luminaires with 'led' technology and the gardening areas while preserving the trees; fix with masonry the wall that separates the park from the sand; and to change the aesthetics of the promenade area giving continuity to the colored pavement of the Paseo de Poniente.
These works will be developed in two phases. In which begins Monday will act only in the area of garden and walks of albero installing the services of drainage, communications, lighting and renewing the pavement of the same by another similar aspect that allows the enjoyment of pedestrians when it rains or is they irrigate the gardens by not generating puddles or mud.
Once the works in the garden area have been completed, the walkway area will be renovated, remodeling the existing wall and railing and the current marble walkway with another one similar to that of Paseo de Poniente. The change of the pavement and the access ramps to the beach will begin in September. Previously, it will act on the wall in short sections to cause minimal discomfort.
Pérez has indicated that with this work planning "at all times the pedestrian crossing will be maintained in the area of the promenade during the high season".
In addition to the integral renovation of Elche Park, also "on Monday begins the renovation of the high section of Esperanto Street, included in the Plan of Sidewalks of the 'Universal Accessibility' project". Specifically, they will be renovated from the 100 meters of the sidewalk of Esperanto street between Gerona and Doctor Orts Llorca - both recently renovated -, as well as the water and lighting network.
The mayor explained that "being subject to a grant from the Provincial Council of Alicante, the project of 'Improvement of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability of Benidorm' must be executed within a period of time", which in this case expire "the November 1st". Hence, the actions will begin immediately.
Apart from the remodeling of Elche Park and the Plan of Sidewalks that affects Esperanto Street, the project "includes an Asphalting Plan, complete the pedestrian accessibility of the central almond of Benidorm, a Security section, and a Plan of improvement of accessibility to buildings will reach all municipal public buildings.
In addition, the City Council included a series of improvements in the project that have been assumed by the awarded UTE. The most important one is the construction of a new access to the school complex of the Salt de l'Aigua through a bridge over the Derramador ravine, which will extend the Barca del Bou street and join it to the European Community avenue. This action valued at 600,000 euros, will allow greater outbound connections from the Salt de l'Aigua for public transport, emergency vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, students and teachers of this school complex in which 80% of students are concentrated of Benidorm.
