Benidorm celebrates its first 'Tuna Days' next week. And to make your mouth water to this meeting of Benidorm gastronómico, the Department of Tourism and Abreca-Cobreca Association have organized this morning a quatering a piece of bluefin tuna of 223 kilos to show restorers, residents and visitors how to clean this product and the ways of cooking each of its parts.

At Plaça del Castell, Balfegó company personnel, based in Ametlla del Mar, have proceeded to quater a piece captured in their pools. The mayor and person in charge of the area of ​​Tourism, Toni Pérez; members of the municipal corporation; the president of Abreca-Cobreca, Javier del Castillo; the godmother of Benidorm Gastronómico 2019, Trini Mas, and sponsors of previous editions have attended this quatering.

The mayor stressed that bluefin tuna "is present in our palate and our recipes because it is part of the DNA of Benidorm", for centuries its people were dedicated to trap tuna throughout the Mediterranean. "This art of fishing tradition of Benidorm -has pointed- made us have a very extensive and very intense knowledge about how to capture this product", but the activity developed today in El Castell "has allowed us to live an experience that many of us had not experienced so closely "

Pérez has indicated that from May 4 to 12, 2019 there will be 15 Benidorm establishments that will participate in these first 'Tuna Days'. The president of Abreca-Cobreca, meanwhile, explained that during the conference will be offered tapas and snacks, dishes and / or menus depending on the establishment for "everyone can try this fantastic product." All "the excellent raw material" that will be served during the 'Days of Tuna' will be supplied by Balfegó.

Del Castillo said that with these days "we wanted to pay homage" to the past of Benidorm "through gastronomy"; and he added that "we want to exploit tuna, that it is a product that remains as a reference of our gastronomic offer and that the establishments of the city can work it".

The following establishments participate in these 'Days of Tuna': Belvedere, Club Naútico, El Bodegón, El Mesón Cervecería Cruz Blanca, La Brasería, La Cava Aragonesa, La Familia, La Tabernita del Sur, La Tapería, Mal Pas, Marisquería El Puerto , Point de Sal, Son de Mar, Trangantona, and Villa Venecia Hotel Boutique Gourmet.

After the 'Days of Tuna', the next appointment of Benidorm Gastronómico, and also the longest, will be Tapas and Pinchos Contest, which will take place from June 15 to 23. The VIII Days of the rice of the earth will close the calendar from October 19 to 27.
