Benidorm launches grants of up to 3,000 euros for nightlife

22 July 2021
Benidorm implementa ayudas al ocio nocturno

Benidorm City Council has received from Alicante Provincial Council a subsidy of about 300,000 euros to minimize the impact of Covid-19 on the economic and business fabric of the city; a subsidy that "will be allocated entirely to direct aid to the nightlife sector," as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez. The Local Government Board (JGL) has already approved the rules that will govern this call, which provides for grants of up to 3,000 euros.

The mayor has pointed out that “in view of the different restrictions to which the nightlife sector has been subjected, and being aware of its importance in the city, with this aid program we want to support SMEs, micro-SMEs and the self-employed who carry out this activity in Benidorm ”.

According to the requirements established by the Provincial Council and included in the bases, companies or freelancers with fiscal domicile in Benidorm and that “between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 have reduced the monthly average of turnover of at least 25% compared to the monthly average of 2019 ”.

Toni Pérez has made "a call to entrepreneurs, SMEs and micro-SMEs in the Benidorm nightlife sector to attend this call"; and he has stressed that "since the beginning of the pandemic the City Council has derived and continues to derive all possible resources to maintain as far as we can the entire local productive fabric." In this case, he has stressed, "a nightlife sector that is being affected by permanent restrictions in this section of the pandemic" and that "is part of a brutally hit tourism industry."

As the mayor has advanced, “once the bases of this call are published in the Official Gazette of the Province, a period of 10 calendar days will be opened to request and process these grants on the website: https: //sede.benidorm.org ”.

On the same website, the bases of these grants will also be published, which broadly establish that companies or freelancers that have a valid municipal opening license and are registered in one of the following sections may participate in the call: 1.2.5. / 2.7.1. / 2.7.2. / 2.7.3. / 2.7.4. / 2.7.6.

Among the "eligible items" of these grants include expenses such as the self-employed fee, the monthly rent of the establishment, consulting expenses and those related to energy, water, telephone, internet, security or equipment maintenance contracts. Also, those related to loans for the acquisition of the business premises, its insurance, or those derived from the rental or acquisition of vehicles 100% related to the activity.
