The City Council collaborates with the Generalitat and Ecoembes to educate and sensitize citizens in recycling tasks

Benidorm joins "Recycle for ConserMar" campaign

30 June 2021
Benidorm se suma a la campaña «Reciclar para ConserMar»

The Councilor for Environment and Beaches department, Mónica Gómez, has welcomed to Benidorm the ‘Recycle for ConserMar’ team, the public awareness campaign to promote the selective collection of packaging waste generated on the beaches. Benidorm, along with 21 other Valencian coastal municipalities, the Generalitat and the non-profit company, Ecoembes, which is in charge of and promoter of packaging recycling in Spain, participates in the initiative.
Gómez has shared with ConserMar team the informative work and throughout the morning, has attended to citizens who have approached the stand installed on Paseo de Levante. “the objective - she pointed out - is to transfer the interest in the selective collection of waste and packaging to users of the beaches and contribute to raising awareness of the importance of separating garbage and then depositing it in the different containers located on the public road ”.
The person in charge of the Environment and Beaches has valued the action "very positively" because "we must reduce the pollution generated by waste to improve environmental quality." "That is - she has emphasized - the objective of this and other campaigns that the City Council launches to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of citizens".
With a roulette that raised questions related to the recycling of packaging and the delivery of promotional material, the young members of the ConserMar team have attended to hundreds of neighbors, tourists and onlookers who have approached the small tent installed in Levante. "We have to involve citizens - Gómez stressed - so that they get involved in the preservation of the natural treasure of our beaches, which, let's not forget, are also the engine of our economy."
After its stop in Benidorm, 'Recycle for ConserMar' campaign will leave the Costa Blanca and from tomorrow it will stop at the main tourist towns in Castellón.
