Benidorm installs 15 new shelters at bus stops with user information systems

25 April 2023
Marquesinas

Benidorm has begun the installation of 15 new bus shelters throughout the city to improve the service offered to public transport users. Five of the fifteen planned are already installed and the rest will be installed continuously as the previous ones are completed, all of them charged to the investment in the street furniture contract.

As detailed by the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, these new canopies have already been put up on Primavera Street, in the Sal de l'Aigüa park-and- ride and two more on Langreo Street, and another one is pending completion on Beniardá avenue.

The reason for the placement of these new elements is due not only to "provide greater comfort for users" but also to the need to replace obsolete shelters. The installation includes a passenger information system in all of them so that they know the timetables and frequency of urban buses.

"This is a very important citizen demand that we are complying with through the concession of the street furniture service" explained the councilor, who stated that he "perfectly understands" the demands of the users "because waiting for the bus on a bench or standing without shade and with these temperatures it is very uncomfortable”.

González de Zárate indicated that the municipal government "collects the neighborhood demands and tries to make them a reality." In this regard, he stressed that the new elements will be equipped "with information with new technologies to publicize the bus schedule to modernize, update and offer the best service to citizens."
