The City Council will implement a new point in Severo Ochoa and Exterior Plus company will place another three where determined by Electric Mobility Plan
Benidorm increases the charging points for electric vehicles and facilitates their use with an ‘app’
Benidorm will have 14 electric vehicle charging points in the coming months once four new points are put into operation, according to the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, this morning. The use of these points can also be managed through a free app that will allow users, among other functions, to locate and reserve the closest point.
The licenced company for the management and maintenance of urban furniture, Exterior Plus, has signed an agreement with Iberdrola for the management of the city's charging points for the next ten years. An agreement that, according to the mayor “is framed within the sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology policies undertaken by the City Council and is within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically number 17 that talks about establishing alliances for achieve objectives ”.
The first of the new municipal-owned charging stations will be located at the junction of Severo Ochoa with Moscú Street and will offer the possibility of two simultaneous charges thanks to a subsidy from IVACE of 27,544 euros.
For its part, as the mayor has detailed, the company Exterior Plus will install three other new charging points in the municipal area, the exact location of which will be determined by Electric Mobility Plan (MOVELE).
Toni Pérez, who has been accompanied at a press conference, by Enrique Planells, manager of Iberdrola's clients in the Valencian Community, Iban Molina, the company's institutional delegate in the Community, and by the Foreign Plus delegate, Óscar Llorens, has highlighted that the agreement between both entities is "a preview of the European Mobility Week that will take place from the 16th to the 22nd of this month".
Currently the City Council has eight charging stations in operation, seven semi-fast and one fast, which are located on Avenida del Mediterráneo, Jaime I, Avenida de Benissa, Avenida Villajoyosa, República Argentina, Tomás Ortuño, Alfonso Puchades and Juan Fuster Zaragoza .
Iberdrola company, for its part, has two other fast-charging chargers; one on Avenida de L’Aigüera and the other on Avenida Europa.
Regarding the Electric Mobility Plan, Toni Pérez, has indicated that "it will be approved this fall" and thus "Benidorm will become one of the few municipalities that has it". These advances make it possible, he said, for the city to "facilitate the transition to electric vehicles" while applauding the alliance between Iberdrola and Exterior Plus.
Iban Molina, for his part, highlighted the role of Benidorm as a "benchmark in the implementation of vehicle charging points" and explained that for this the "fundamental" thing is "to implement the points and that they have good management so that the user be attended 24 hours a day every day of the week ”.
Molina has revealed that only municipally owned Benidorm has 840 kilowatts of power for charging vehicles.
During the appearance, 'Iberdrola Public Recharge' app was announced, already in operation, which allows managing vehicle recharges at the different operating points and offers the possibility not only of locating the nearest charger, but also making a reservation , receive notifications, have a history of recharges and access to maps to reach the charging stations.
In the mayor's opinion, "with this application Benidorm reappears throughout Spain and Europe as a benchmark in sustainable tourism" and has stated that it is one of the "most important applications in electric vehicles".
Enrique Planells, manager of Iberdrola's clients in the Valencian Community, has advanced that the company has already established agreements with Hosbec hotel association and other clients so that their charging points appear in the 'app' and has shown the availability “for reach agreements and collaborate with other sectors ”.
Planells has explained some functionalities of the app, among them, he highlighted that it is possible "to organize the trip that the user is going to make by indicating, among other things, where he should stop to recharge and the time it will take".
