Benidorm hosts the XVIII Congress of Associations for the Elderly 'Ciudad de Benidorm'
The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca, has inaugurated today the 18th edition of the Congress of Associations for the Elderly 'Ciudad de Benidorm', which is being held at Meliá hotel today and tomorrow.
One of the purposes of the event, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the birth of the 'Telefónica de Valencia Senior Association, is to promote unity and fraternity among the different senior citizens' associations in the country. Lorca stated that these annual meetings are "essential for setting up spaces for collaboration" and "an opportunity for older people to express their opinions and propose alternatives to the problems being analyzed."
The mayor congratulated the organizers "for the enthusiasm and interest that you put into your projects" and highlighted the work of the Telefónica de Valencia Senior Association "which develops your team of volunteers that cares for more than 200 elderly colleagues and that, with his calls and visits, tributes, birthday snacks, he maintains contact and accompaniment between you”.
The councilor has shown, finally, her certainty that the contents that are addressed in the congress "will help to become aware of the need to promote active aging as an essential way to achieve healthy aging in the face of cognitive deterioration", which is the central theme of the conferences held on these two days.
