The members and the Fiestas Department are looking for a new date on the calendar to celebrate this event before November
Benidorm Fiestas Commission cancels the 'Euro Marathon' due to the rain alert for the weekend
The Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals of Benidorm has announced this Thursday the cancellation of the traditional 'Euro Marathon', an initiative to raise funds for the Major Patronal Festivities next November and which was scheduled to be held this Saturday, September 2. This was reported this morning by the Festivities Councilor of the Benidorm City Council, Mariló Cebreros, and the president of the 2023 Commission, Vicente Solaz, given the forecast of rain during the weekend due to the arrival of a DANA.
Although the new date for the celebration of this Euro Marathon has not yet been finalized, the mayors of the Commission and the Festivities Department are trying to set a new date in the coming weeks to resume this activity, with which the festivities raise money for the organization of the Major Patron Saint Festivities in November.
The Festival Councilor regretted that the event would not be able to be held as initially planned, but she thanked the Commission for this decision “as a precaution and for everyone's safety.”
Despite having to suspend the event scheduled for this Saturday, the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals maintains the “#UnMetrePerLaFesta” initiative, which allows financial collaboration in the organization of the Patron Festivities in a non-face-to-face manner. To do this, those interested in participating can take a photograph with one meter of euros (which is 43 euro coins) and send the image and the money to the Commission's office, in Casa del Fester.
