This new murder brings to 16 the number of women killed by their partners or ex-partners so far this year and to 1,260 since 2003
Benidorm expresses its rejection of the latest crime of sexist violence against a woman committed in Girona
Benidorm City Council today observed a minute of silence as a sign of rejection and condemnation of the latest murder due to gender violence committed against a woman in Girona. The silent rally took place at the door of City Hall, led by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and members of the local corporation.
The victim, 62 years old, died on June 10 after the brutal beating received two months earlier by her partner, a 39-year-old man who was arrested at the scene.
This murder brings to 16 the number of women who have been murdered by their partners or ex-partners so far this year and to 1,260 the victims of sexist violence since 2003 when the statistics began.
The Department of Equality recalls that Benidorm City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it from the mobile call log.
