Benidorm closes the events of October 9 with a concert-tribute to Pere Mª Orts and Bosch by SM l’Illa
Benidorm closed yesterday the commemorative events of October 9, the Valencian Community festivity, with a concert-tribute to the historian and scholar Pere Mª Orts i Bosch by Societat Musical l'Illa, and which was attended, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez; members of the Corporation; the Queens of Festes Majors Patronals, Paula Pérez and Sofía Fuster; as well as the presidents of the Comissió and l’Associació de Penyes.
On the centenary of Pere Mª Orts i Bosch's birth, the band led by Felipe Juan Lanuza performed 'Aires Llevantins', the three compositions that make up' Cançons de mare ',' Rapsodia Valenciana ', Marcha cristiana Bernat de Sarrià 'and 'Marcha procesional Virgen del Sufragio '.
The interpretation of these pieces musically supported the story of passages and aspects of the life of the official chronicler and Adoptive Son of Benidorm, such as his childhood and long stays at Finca del Senyoret, his research work on the history of the city and the arrival of the patron of the city, his contribution to Valencian cultural funds through his literary and artistic collection, or her role in the Valencian Academy of Llengua (AVL).
The mayor recalled that "few people" have been "so generous" as Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, that to "make his heritage available to the world" he donated it to cultural and public institutions, including Benidorm City Council, to which he bequeathed his collection of tapestries. Toni Pérez assured that the SM l'Illa concert “motivates us even more in this Centenary to make an effort to make the figure and work of Pere Mª Orts i Bosch known” and through it “that this town has history”, part important of which the scholar himself contributed to testify and document.
