Benidorm celebrates All Saints' Day
Hundreds of people have celebrated All Saints' Day with visits to the two cemeteries of Benidorm to remember their deceased on a day with nice weather. During the day, visitors walked around both cemeteries in an incessant trickle of people.
At 12:30 noon, the priest of San Francisco de Asís church in Benidorm, D. Francisco Juan Galiana, officiated a mass in Sant Jaume cemetery, which was attended, among others, by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Cemeteries, Ángela Llorca and members of the local corporation. In the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., the religious acts moved to Mare de Déu del Sofratge cemetery, where another mass was celebrated in memory of all the deceased in the city, a ceremony officiated by D. Pedro Crespo, priest of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena church.
On the occasion of All Saints, from last Friday until tomorrow, November 2, the cemeteries of Benidorm open continuously from 08:00 to 20:00 in order to facilitate the visit of both cemeteries to the public; a visit that increases significantly during these important dates. In addition to extending the usual opening hours of the facilities, the City Council, together with the urban transport company, has also reinforced the bus service to Sant Jaume cemetery.
In addition, the new car park of more than 5,000 square meters and capacity for more than 600 vehicles is fully operational in this cemetery, which facilitated parking for the hundreds of Benidorm residents who come to the cemetery these days.
