The amounts range between 500 and 1,000 euros, and are consistent with those announced by the Regional Government
Benidorm approves grants to companies, freelancers and businesses to mitigate the effects of Covid-19
The Local Government Board (JGL) has approved today the bases of grants aimed at companies, freelancers, SMEs and shops in Benidorm to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis resulting from Covid-19. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has reported that "the purpose of this aid is the recovery and maintenance of local commerce and the promotion of the productive fabric of Benidorm", minimizing as far as possible "the economic impact derived from the emergency situation health caused by Covid-19 ”.
Toni Pérez explained that these municipal grants are consistent with those announced by the Generalitat Valenciana, as the regional administration itself has certified. Specifically, the bases were sent on June 8 to the Regional Government, which last Friday, July 10, reported on the changes to be made to make them consistent with regional grants; changes that have already been introduced in the grants that are approved today.
The mayor recalled that "the City Council has allocated 2.6 million euros for this aid package", of which "1.5 million are already available". Grants aimed at freelancers or companies with a maximum of 10 workers and whose amount "ranges between 500 and 1,000 euros depending on the condition that the decree of the state of alarm caused on their activity."
Thus, the grant will amount to 1,000 euros for those who were affected by the closure of establishments; to 750 euros for those who saw their turnover reduced by at least 40% between March 14 and April 19 compared to the average of the previous six months or the period of registration of the activity; and 500 euros for applicants who have been also beneficiaries of municipal grants to families, for which the City Council has enabled a total of 1.4 million euros.
The mayor has clarified that these grants are aimed at individuals and legal entities or companies that carry out a commercial activity or services in Benidorm, including freelancers who "are subject to a professional mutual society" - group excluded in calls from other administrations-.
The processing of these grants will be done electronically through the Website (https://sede.benidorm.org) from the day after their publication in the Official Gazette of the Province and may be requested until August 14 at 23.59 hours. The call for grant will also be published in the National Subsidy Advertising System (http://www.pap.minhap.gob.es/bdnstrans/index), on the municipal bulletin board and on the municipal website.
The resolution of the grant will be published on the Electronic Notice Board indicating the identifying details of the beneficiary.
