Exposición Alberto García-Alix

Boca del Calvari Museum in Benidorm is putting together its next exhibition, which in this case will be dedicated to photography and will house the work of one of the most important figures in our country in this field, Alberto García-Alix (León, 1956). ‘Bajo esta luz que arrastra mi mirada a las sombras’ is the title of the exhibition, which opens this Friday and is made up of a reduced selection from the exhibition ‘From where there is no return’, which the creator made in 2007 for the Museo Nacional Reina Sofía.

The Councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has pointed out that “for Benidorm, it is a luxury to be able to show a little piece of the work of Alberto García-Alix”. Specifically, a compendium of that exhibition that had two hundred photographs and that reviewed his work from 1976 to 2007, images “that do not follow any chronological order, but that introduce us to the intimacy of the photographer and bring us closer to his universe at the time in which they were captured, thanks to the autobiographical nuance that García-Alix always imprints on his work,” explained the councillor.

Ana Pellicer has announced that the exhibition can be visited this Friday, at an opening that will be at 12.30 pm and in which the artist himself will participate, and until next November at the Museu Boca del Calvari.

Likewise, the person in charge of Historical and Cultural Heritage has invited “anyone interested in photography or art in general” to visit it, as “it is a unique opportunity to discover the work of this National Photography Award winner, a creator who, from his raw and inimitable black and white, has portrayed many personalities of our country, making at the same time the social portrait of an entire era, starting from the generation of the ‘Movida madrileña’ until today”.
