Atresmedia shoots its series ‘Benidorm’ in the city inNovember

Atresmedia shoots in November its new series, entitled ‘Benidorm’, which will be recorded entirely in the city for 16 weeks and which is starred by Antonio Pagudo and María Almudéver. Both actors have presented the project today at a press conference with the mayor, Toni Pérez; and executive producers, Sonia Martínez and César Benítez. This comedy, produced by Atresmedia TV in collaboration with Plano a Plano - responsible for the successful ‘Allí abajo '- will be aired on Antena 3 and Atresplayer Premium, and will in principle feature 8 chapters.

The mayor indicated that with this new audiovisual project, "Benidorm is once again set," in a work "coordinated by Benidorm Film Office" and in which "all departments of the City Council and the city itself have been involved." Pérez assured that "it is a great satisfaction" to host this shoot and that the series has the name of the city, and thanked Atresmedia and Plano a Plano for trusting on Benidorm" to make a fiction "that has values ​​that combine very well with the city, since both seek to generate happiness, one in the spectators and another in the millions of tourists who choose it ”.

For her part, Sonia Martínez has explained that Fiction of Atresmedia Televisión "we want to tell stories in places that have a lot to say and that are visually important." That is why, “when Plano a Plano, who is a reliable travel companion, presented us with the story of 'Benidorm' we immediately said 'let's go', because this is a very special city, of welcome, modern, sustainable and it has all the characteristics to be a character more of the series and a protagonist character ”.

Martínez thanked the municipal officials "all the facilities they are offering to produce the series"; and he added that "we hope that if someone does not know about the existence of this wonderful city and its people through the series, I can know it."

During the presentation, César Benítez has detailed that ‘Benidorm’ is “a romantic comedy that talks about second chances, love or true friendship”; and he added that "from the beginning we were struck by recording in Benidorm" because "in addition to providing a great mix of cultures and a unique and unique environment, we want to show that hopes can be realized in it."

The protagonists of ‘Benidorm’ have revealed that they are already working “in the first trials”. Both Antonio Pagudo and María Almudéver have been "very excited" with the project, with "two wonderful characters and feelings", and also the fact of filming in Benidorm, which is "a very particular city with a lot of energy".

The technical and artistic team of ‘Benidorm’ will consist of more than 80 people. As confirmed by the producers, part of both teams will be from Benidorm and province. A casting will be held next week to select more than 100 members.

Xabier Zurita is a Basque notary. Single, he doesn't seem to ask life more than the small pleasures of his routines. But everything changes when he receives unexpected news: a tumor that grows in his head will kill him in less than three months. Surpassed by the news, Xabi is unable to share it with his friends and makes the first unpredictable decision of his life: he packs and goes to Benidorm. As soon as he arrived in the city, he settled in a Benidorm Hotel with the mission of looking for that girl he had not seen for years. Sad for his terrible illness and for not finding Maria, Xabi drowns his sorrows in alcohol at the hotel bar, where he tells all his misfortunes to Tony, a stranger who passed by and who remains stunned by Xabi's confession: He has saved three million euros.

Tony runs to see his girlfriend, Candy, a girl who works in a strip club in hopes of an opportunity to leave him. Tony proposes her, if they manage to convince the Basque that she is Maria Miranda, they will get an inheritance that will finally allow them to live the life they deserve.
