Last Tuesday the third edition of #Benidorm Chess Open was presented, which will be held at Meliá Hotel until next November 5. An international tournament that brings together 267 participants from 26 countries, with a notable presence of Spaniards, Norwegians, and Germans.
The event, valid for the FIDE ELO, has the participation of three grandmasters, five international masters, and 17 FIDE masters. In addition, the presence of the under-20 world champion, Xeniya Balabayeva, from Kazakhstan, and seven blind or deafblind players stands out.
Among the novelties of this edition, the staging of a board broadcast course organized by the Chess Federation of the Valencian Community (FACV) has been highlighted, a new initiative in Spain that takes place for two days within the framework of the course itself. tournament and as a complementary activity to it.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, the vice president of the FACV, Ana Pastor, the director of the tournament, Alfonso Vílchez, and its organizer, Fernando Brotons. The event has the collaboration of the Benidorm City Council, the Provincial Council of Alicante, the Generalitat Valenciana and the FACV
