Zoido says that the new police station is a priority for the Government of Spain

The Interior Minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido, has assured today that the new Police Station of the National Police is "a priority" for the Government of Spain, and that the new facilities of Benidorm will be included in the "First Infrastructure Plan" tendered by the Goverment of Mariano Rajoy if the General Budgets of the State are approved definitively. An approval contingent at the moment to the motion of censure raised by the PSOE in the Congress of Deputies and that will begin to be debated this Thursday.

Zoido made these statements during the visit he has made this afternoon in Benidorm, and that has taken him to the Town Hall and to the new facilities of the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE) opened several weeks ago in the area of ​​Rincón de Loix.

The minister arrived accompanied by the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Juan Carlos Moragues, and has been received at the Town Hall by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the delegate of the Government in the province of Alicante, José Miguel Saval; members of the corporation; and the spokesperson of the PP in Les Corts, Isabel Bonig, among others.

Before signing in the city's honor book, Zoido transferred to the members of the corporation the Government's intention to include the Police Station of Benidorm in the next Infrastructure Plan of the Ministry, and recognized that the fact that the City Council has assumed the drafting of the project has allowed to prioritize this infrastructure.

The head of the Ministry of the Interior assured that the police station is "a large outstanding debt", which "has been in demand for a long time" and in which "the Government is now going to make an important investment".

The mayor, for his part, described as "great news" that the Government of Spain considers the new police station a priority, and appreciated that the effort made by the City Council to draft the construction project has made it possible for the process to be "accelerated to the maximum " Pérez stressed that the new facilities "are going to be a substantial improvement for the officers of the National Police Force and for the neighbors or visitors who have to go to these facilities," which will allow them to overcome the "discomforts" of capacity and accessibility presents in the current building after decades of service.

Zoido expressed his "satisfaction for being in Benidorm, because it was a promise he had made to the mayor", and he was grateful for having opted for collaboration with the government of the Nation to improve the infrastructures of SATE, to which he moved after leaving the City Hall. There he was able to greet the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, César Sánchez; Senator Agustín Almodóbar; to the representatives of the State Security Forces and Forces in Benidorm and province; to the consular body of Alicante; to representatives of the business and neighborhood associations of the city; and those responsible for the Local Police.

The new facilities of the SATE, said the minister, will allow security officials "to provide coverage and service, in excellent conditions, to all foreigners who may have a problem in Benidorm, like losing documentation, thefts or criminal acts. That is the way in which the administrations should collaborate, "he added.

Zoido stressed that in Benidorm "SATE will be the service that more hours a day will remain open in Spain, because it is a service that has been working in the city for a long time and is consolidated." Specifically, and as the mayor explained, the SATE is in operation "all year round", operating "for twelve continuous hours between May 1 and September 30".

The mayor recalled that SATE was located in the municipal center El Torrejó, and highlighted the suitability of its new location "in the heart" of the "accommodation and leisure of foreign tourists" that visit Benidorm. For Pérez these new facilities and the commitment of the Government of Spain with the SATE suppose "a boost to the attention to the foreign tourist" and contribute to increase the perception of security, "an added value" more and more decisive at the time of choosing destination for their holidays.

In addition to SATE, the building supported by the City Council at the intersection of Gerona and Derramador streets also houses a tourism office, in service since last January.
