The Water Commission agrees that municipal technicians draw up the Master Plan of the Integral Water Cycle with exceptional external support
The Study Group for the Integral Water Management of Benidorm (CEGIAB) has agreed todaythat it is the municipal technicians who draw up the Master Plan of the Integrated Water Cycle with external external assistance if necessary. The members of the Commission have taken this decision in an extraordinary session after analyzing the report of the Engineering area which details the scope of this "mixed elaboration" for the Master Plan, one of the four formulas that was placed on the table At the body's constituent meeting last week.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that the choice of how and who was to draft this Master Plan was on the table at the constituent meeting "in the light of the questions and information requirements made by members of the commission on mixed production", which is "The alternative that defended the municipal technicians".
This alternative marks that the drafting team will be formed, mainly, by technicians of the Department of Engineering and directed by an official of this area. In order to complete some aspects of this Master Plan, a document of a multidisciplinary nature, the drafting team will be able to resort to officials from other areas such as Urbanism, Statistics, Legal Advice, Finance, Sociology or Environment; And also to organizations such as the Baixa Water Consortium, the Water Sanitation Entity (EPSAR), the Bajo del Algar Channel Irrigation Community or other administrations such as the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) or the General Directorate of Back.
Likewise, some information about facilities or data may be claimed from the drinking water and sewer concessionaire, which is managed by the treatment plant or the parks and gardens. Finally, and only in the case of being indispensable, external works can be contracted with a cost of between 5,000 and 35,000 euros.
The Mayor recalled that this Master Plan "will allow to analyze and diagnose the current situation of drinking water supply, potabilization, storage and distribution", as well as "the collection and purification of waste water, drainage systems and Evacuation of rainwater, and the use of other sources such as purified and marine waters. All this information will serve "to propose actions, make decisions and implement infrastructures in the future," as "the needs and demands that will be expected during the duration of the Plan will be seen." In addition, measures "to improve energy efficiency" will be established.
The Study Group for the Integral Water Management of Benidorm was established on 1 March on the basis of a December plenary agreement, and includes the groups of the corporation, municipal technicians and representatives of business organizations, neighborhood , and consumers and users.
It should analyze the feasibility of all water services - water supply, sanitation and reuse - be jointly managed, and that it must also propose the most appropriate management model for Benidorm's interests: direct, indirect or mixed.
