The sun will cross the Portell del Puig Campana this Saturday to announce the shortest night of the year

The summer solstice will once again bring together residents and visitors in Partida dels Marxassos region for a unique natural spectacle

18 June 2025
El solsticio de verano volverá a reunir a vecinos y visitantes en la Partida dels Marxassos en un espectáculo natural único

The summer solstice will bring together hundreds of curious residents and visitors next Saturday evening, who, like every year, will not want to miss a natural spectacle that occurs only once a year: the passage of the sun through the Portell del Puig Campana to announce the shortest night of the year.

Every year on June 21st, many people gather at the Partida dels Marxassos, in front of the Sant Jaume Cemetery, to witness an event that attracts more and more curious visitors each year thanks to the popular support long given to it by organizations such as the Cultural and Recreational Association 'La Barqueta' and the Taula del Bon Profit, with the support of Benidorm City Council.

When the time comes, the sun will not miss its appearance. The forecast is for it to set at 9:28 p.m., although by then some clouds are expected, which should not hinder the spectacle. The City Council, however, recommends that anyone who wishes to attend do so with opaque glass, X-rays, or any other protective equipment to prevent vision damage caused by looking directly at the sun as it sets over the Tajo de Roldán peak, the highest peak in the Marina Baixa.
