The works, which are progressing according to schedule, will also include work on schools to collect rainwater and connect it to the general network
The renovation of the water infrastructure on Capitán Cortés Street will be completed before the end of June

The renovation of the water infrastructure on Capitán Cortés Street will be completed before the end of June, and therefore before the start of the summer season. The pace of the work has not been delayed, and the four-month deadline established at the start of this project will be met.
At this time, the work to install the rainwater collection system in the street has been completed, and the trenches for the drinking water system are being dug. The Councilor for Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, who visited the work underway, announced that work will be carried out at the two schools in the area—Bautista Lledó and Aitana—where a small rainwater system will be installed and connected to the street system "to prevent rainwater from accumulating in the courtyards" without affecting normal traffic at these schools. On Capitán Cortés Street the stormwater network will connect its branches with the main drainage system that runs alongside Foietes Park. Once this work is completed, the paving will be replaced, leaving the street with universal accessibility and new signage.
The council member also expressed his satisfaction "because the work is progressing smoothly, on time, and will be completed before the summer." He reiterated that this is a "very necessary" project after having noted that the sanitation infrastructure "was severely deteriorated, since its first installation dated back more than 30 years."
This deterioration of the infrastructure caused continuous service deficiencies "which is why its renovation was essential." The budget for the project, which is being carried out by Aquambiente, amounts to €399,997.89. The bulk of the work includes the complete renovation of the drinking water supply network, the sewer system, and the installation of a stormwater network.
According to González de Zárate, the aim was a "comprehensive solution" for these services, tailored to current needs and future demands, taking into account the actions already carried out through the municipal works project for the Station Zone EDUSI (Educational Development Plan).
The works, therefore, complement those previously carried out as part of the EDUSI (Educational Development Plan), including the renovation of the stormwater network in Colonia Madrid and part of Capitán Cortés. "Now we are finishing the stormwater network and also the sewer system in an important area," the councillor stated. The work also involves improving the surface urban scene and installing new trees. "It is an intervention in line with those we have carried out in other neighbourhoods and areas of the city," he indicated.
