El IES Mediterrània organiza el ‘I Concurs d’Esmorzars’ dentro de los actos de su XXV aniversario

Benidorm's Mediterrània Institute organized its first Breakfast Competition this Tuesday, an initiative promoted by the school and the El Beato bar as part of the school's 25th-anniversary celebrations. The event aims to encourage young people to choose vocational training courses in the hospitality industry and generate synergies with Benidorm's restaurants. The event ran throughout the morning, and the final segment, during which the winner and the other two finalists were selected, was attended by Mayor Toni Pérez and Education Councilor Maite Moreno, who supported the competition along with other members of the municipal council.

'Avokdo,' 'El rey del Pulled Pork,' 'Delirio de solomillo y trufa,' 'Rib Buster,' 'Lomántico,' and 'Bienvenidos a Villabomba' are the names of the sandwiches that the vocational training students at this IES submitted to the contest, which were tasted by the jury and authorities before the winners were announced.

First, students and collaborators enjoyed presentations and short talks offered by local sponsors. Then, they featured a presentation on cooking by Pau García, head chef of the gastronomic restaurant 'Talaia' in Benidorm; Denis Domínguez, head chef of the restaurant 'Abarrote' in Alicante; and Matías Urbina, chef of the bar 'El Beato' in Benidorm.

They also pointed out that this first edition of the competition was held solely at the local level, but to open it up to the provincial and regional levels in future editions, so that all centres in the Valencian Community that offer gastronomy vocational training can participate and join this initiative.
