Raúl Mesa Pavilion hosts the ‘Women’s Trophy’ of kickboxing, K1 and muay thai this Saturday
Raúl Mesa Pavilion in Benidorm will host an evening of combat sports on Saturday with the ‘Alicante Provincial Council Women's Trophy’ in the ‘Queen of Queens’ category. Organised to commemorate International Women's Day, the event will pit some of the best female kickboxers, K1 fighters, and Muay Thai fighters against each other. The event was presented this Wednesday by the councillors for Sports, Javier Jordá, and for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and also included the participation of Eduardo Martín, president of the Benidorm Kickboxing Club and the Valencian Community Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Associated Sports Federation.
This ‘Boxing Fight Night’ will begin at 6:00 PM and is organised in collaboration with the Valencian Federation, the Alicante Provincial Council, and the Benidorm City Council, through its Department of Sports.
This time it will be a competitive evening of kickboxing, K1, and Muay Thai, where fighters from the Valencian Community will face rivals from Barcelona, Granada, and Madrid in ten adrenaline-pumping bouts.
Javier Jordá thanked the organisers for choosing Benidorm to host this type of event, which, in addition to promoting sports, also aims to "give visibility to women and women's sports." Ángela Zaragozí echoed this sentiment, noting that these kinds of events demonstrate that "women have an increasingly strong presence not only in mainstream sports, but also in contact sports like this one," and pointed out that this sporting event "is the perfect ending to a fifteen-day program of activities that the Department of Equality, in collaboration with other departments, has organized to commemorate March 8th, International Women's Day."
For his part, the event organiser, Eduardo Martín, highlighted that the evening “will be entirely dominated by women, from wrestlers to referees,” that tickets for spectators cost 15 euros, and that the doors will open at 5:15 p.m.
