The PSOE requests that improvement works be undertaken on Murcia Street

28 February 2025
El PSOE solicita que se acometan trabajos de acondicionamiento en la calle Murcia

The Socialist Municipal Group has asked the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, to undertake improvement and conditioning work on Murcia Street. The socialist spokesperson, Cristina Escoda, has stressed that this busy street in Rincón de Loix needs urgent action to improve its safety and urban scene.

Thus, Escoda has denounced many parts of deteriorated pavement with a slope to cause falls, rusty metal structures and street lamps, dirt on benches and ground, or graffiti on walls. “It is not just a question of aesthetics or that this road be cleaned more frequently. We are demanding improvements in a pedestrian area that gives access to several hotels to avoid, as far as possible, falls by residents and tourists,” she pointed out.

The councillor stressed that the City Council's interventions, such as lowering the pavement on Gerona or Ibiza streets to eliminate architectural barriers, are of little use “if they then have Murcia Street itself full of cracks and potholes that make mobility difficult.”

Finally, Escoda stressed that she hopes Mayor Toni Pérez will take a break between his trips, photos, and events around the province “to focus on managing his city and giving the relevant instructions to the Department of Urban Scene to fix all the damage that this street presents as soon as possible.”
