The processions of Palm Sunday fill the streets of Benidorm with palms

25 March 2018
Las procesiones del Domingo de Ramos llenan de palmas las calles de Benidorm

The streets of Benidorm were filled this morning with palms to celebrate the processions of Palm Sunday. At 10.30 in the morning the first palms were blessed in Ermita de Sanz, at 11.00 in San Jaime and Santa Ana and also in La Amudena, at 11.30 in Nuestra Señora del Carmen and in San Francisco de Asís, at 11.45 am Nuestra señora del Mar and at 12.00 in the parishes of El Buen Pastor and San Juan Bautista.

Palm Sunday recalls the entrance of Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem on the back of a donkey and is the official beginning of Holy Week. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has participated in the events that have been held in the Parish Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana, accompanied by the mayor of Fiestas, Jesus Carrobles, Senator Agustín Almodóbar, the regional deputy Manuel Pérez Fenoll, and the editors Agustín Navarro, Tere Águila and Gema Amor.

This afternoon, the auditorium of Benidorm City Council will host at 17.30 the concert to present the CD 'Semana Santa de Benidorm', made by L'Illa de Benidorm Music Society. At 8:00 pm the solemn procession of the Brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza y de la Paz will take place, which will depart from the parish of El Buen Pastor.
