The Socialist Group criticizes the mayor for being unable to put out to tender the contract to open the parking lot on Puerto Rico Avenue under municipal management

The PP government closes Poniente parking lot again

12 September 2024
El gobierno del PP vuelve a cerrar el parking de Poniente

The socialist municipal group has denounced that the government of Toni Pérez has closed the public car park in Poniente, located on Avenida de Puerto Rico. The councillor who oversees the Mobility department, Miguel Soldevila, has pointed out that with this decision by the executive of the Popular Party, the 156 covered spaces that are inside the building are no longer operational.

Soldevila has regretted that this municipal car park has only been open for a little over two months this year, and has criticised the fact that the mayor has been unable to tender and award the contract to apply the same management model to this car park as to the public car park in l’Aigüera, “as we have been demanding for almost a year now”.

Thus, the socialist councillor has censured the constant falsehoods of the councillor for Mobility in everything related to the management of this car park. And, as Soldevila recalled, “Mr. Muñoz stated in April that the contract was going to be put out to tender in weeks and that the specifications had been drawn up since the beginning of the year.” In this regard, he recalled that in the June plenary session, the PP government approved allocating 40,000 euros to the drafting of the technical specifications for the provision of the operation and management service for the Puerto Rico car park. “The councillor will have to explain to us why he has been lying for so many months and what specifications were being drawn up at that time,” he said.

Finally, Soldevila has demanded that the mayor “not waste any more time” and start all the procedures and put out to tender the necessary contracts to reopen this municipal infrastructure as soon as possible under direct management, establishing attractive prices for residents and tourists and with discounts for customers of businesses in the area. “The part-time mayor is more concerned with his photos and trips around the province than with solving the problems of the citizens. Due to their incompetence, the car park has been closed during peak tourist periods and we still do not have the tender documents for its management," he criticised.
