Plaça de la Senyoria has hosted Saturday the traditional offering of flowers that the Carmen Fiestas Commission organizes, with the collaboration of the Department of Fiestas, in honor of the Virgen del Carmen and the subsequent tribute to those who fell at sea before the monument that remembers them in the place.

After 8:00 p.m., the offering started to the rhythm of the 'xirimita' and the 'tabalet' from the Paseo de Colón. The Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros together with other members of the municipal corporation and the regional deputy José Ramón González de Zárate, have accompanied the commission chaired by Ginés Alvarado jointly with the Marinera de Honor, Carmen Albarral, and this year's preacher, Begona Cano.

Also participating in the offering was the chief patron of the Fishermen's Guild, José Marínez; the Major and Child Queens of the 2023 Major Patronal Festivities, Angélica Morenilla, and Daniela Talavera flanked by their courts of honor; the president of the Commission, Vicente Solaz; the Associació de Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’ chaired by Ramón Cano and other festive groups in the city.

After the offering to the Star of the Seas, a tribute to those who fell at sea took place next to the monument in their honor created by the sculptor Juan de Ávalos. Cebreros, González de Zárate, and the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, have placed a laurel wreath there. The Fiestas del Carmen and the Comissió de les Festes Majors Patronals have also done the same.

The acts in honor of the patron saint of the people of the sea will continue this Sunday with the marine offering that will bring together the faithful and their boats to tour the bay with the last lights of the day.
