Around 2,500 people have accessed the site throughout the day, where 87 food stalls have been installed

Normality on the first day of Foietes municipal market

01 July 2020
Normalidad en la primera jornada del mercadillo municipal de Foietes

Normality has been the dominant note on the first day of activity at Foietes municipal market. This has been transferred by the Councilor for Commerce, Lorenzo Martínez, who reported that "throughout the morning around 2,500 people have accessed the premises, who have made their purchases in the 87 installed food stalls." Martínez explained that "the flow of customers has been staggered, which has allowed the safety distances between consumers to be respected at all times and that there has not been any type of crowding".

The councilor recalled that the market has opened its doors with a new distribution -with wider aisles and placed only on one side- to ensure the social distance set by the regulations and to order the transit of consumers and processes shopping. Likewise, the perimeter has been delimited and a single access point and an exit point have been established, located in the vicinity of the José Llorca Linares social center, with inspection personnel who have been in charge of controlling the entry of users.

In addition to the face-to-face control at the accesses, "the Local Police drone has followed the development of this first day of the market from the air, checking at all times that the planned capacity has been met." Martínez thanked "the Local Police and the municipal services for their work in the previous planning sessions and during the morning to ensure the correct and normal operation of the market."

The mayor has reported that the adequacy of the site and its operations have complied with all regulatory and health guidelines, as well as the circular circulated in this regard by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). In addition to the aforementioned measures, there is also a mandatory use of the mask for customers and vendors, or a ban on touching gender.

Martínez has clarified that "in the first phase, only the food section of the market will be opened, and depending on how the situation evolves, the rest of the stalls will be opened."
