The government will respond to this request and allocate this amount to the municipal aid launched to alleviate the social and economic crisis.

The Neighborhood Council makes available to the City Council the 500,000 euros of the Participatory Budget for aid against Covid19

23 April 2020
El Consejo Vecinal pone a disposición del Ayuntamiento los 500.000 euros del Presupuesto Participativo para ayudas frente al Covid19

The Neighborhood Council today has transferred a document to Benidorm City Council requesting that the 500,000 euros contemplated in the 2020 municipal accounts of the Participatory Budget be used for aid launched by the local administration to alleviate the effects of Covid19. Direct municipal aid aimed at supporting families, the commercial fabric, companies and the self-employed in Benidorm, and to which, as announced by Mayor Toni Pérez, it is planned to allocate a total of 4 million euros.

According to the writing, the Permanent Table of the neighborhood body has agreed to issue this petition "in the face of the situation generated by the current pandemic that has led to the stoppage of most of the work activity"; a cessation that has led in turn to "the closing of shops" and the presentation of "ERTEs".

The mayor thanked the Council for "this gesture, which honors it and shows its sensitivity and commitment to citizens, by making available to the City Council an amount initially intended to carry out improvement projects proposed by the residents themselves." Toni Pérez has remarked that "the government is going to respond to this request from the Neighborhood Council and allocate those 500,000 euros to complete the aid that we have launched and announced from the City Council to support families, businesses and freelancers in Benidorm, which from now on they are suffering the consequences of a health crisis that has immediately led to an economic and social crisis as well. ”
