Music, theater, and an exhibition are the highlights of the Cultural Week of the Major Patron Saint Festivities
Festive music concerts, several theatrical performances, and the opening of an exhibition at the Boca del Calvari Museum are the highlights of this year's Cultural Week for the Patron Saint Festivals, organised by Benidorm City Council's Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Department of Fiestas and the 2025 Patron Saint Fiestas Commission. This was stated by the councillors for both departments, Jaime Jesús Pérez and Mariló Cebreros, who noted that it is a program "that combines different cultural and artistic disciplines and which we hope will be enjoyed by the public in the days leading up to our Patron Saint Festivals."
The events will take place mainly in various municipal venues, such as the Town Hall Assembly Hall and the Cultural Center Auditorium, from this Friday, October 24th, until Thursday, November 6th, the day before the lighting of the artistic lighting, the opening of the fair, and the Entrada de Penyes (The Entrance of the Penyes), which mark the unofficial start of the festivities, as announced by the Councilor for Culture. Furthermore, Jaime Jesús Pérez pointed out that all activities are free and, "although we have decided to have a varied program, music will, as expected, have a very prominent role due to the quality and relevance of the bands and musical culture in the Valencian Community and in our own city."
The first of the events scheduled in the program will be the presentation of the official book of the 2025 Festivals, which will take place this Friday, October 24th, in the Town Hall Assembly Hall starting at 8:00 p.m.
Two days later, on Sunday the 26th, the Cultural Centre Auditorium will host the "Concert de Festes Majors" (Major Festival Concert) by the Societat Musical L'Illa de Benidorm, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The program will continue on Thursday, October 30th, also in the Cultural Centre Auditorium, with the Societat Musical La Nova and its "Concert de Festes Majors" (Major Festival Concert), starting at 9:00 p.m.; while on Sunday, November 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. and on the same stage, it will be the turn of the Unión Musical de Benidorm Concert.
Also on Sunday, the 2nd, at 8:00 p.m., the ACR La Barqueta Rondalla will offer a concert in the Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
On Tuesday, November 4th, at 8:00 p.m., the Town Hall Auditorium will host a dramatised reading of "Don Juan Tenorio" by the local theatre groups Alpí Teatre and Tossal Teatre.
The following day, on Wednesday, November 5th, the program returns to the Cultural Centre Auditorium for a concert by the musicians of the Llíria-Camp de Turia-Serranos University of Catalonia (UDP). The concert will take place at 6:00 p.m.
Finally, on Thursday, November 6th, at 7:00 p.m., the Boca del Calvari Museum will open the exhibition "Benidorm, Traces of Time," promoted by the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage. An hour later, in the Town Hall Auditorium, the Taller de Teatre will offer "The Magic of Theatre."
The Councillor for Culture thanked all the local cultural and musical organisations, as well as the Departments of Historical and Cultural Heritage and Festivals, for their "collaboration and involvement in this Cultural Week." He also encouraged citizens to "participate and enjoy these events."
Jaime Jesús Pérez noted that, as part of the Official Festival Program, "we will have another highly significant event in the area of our local culture, the Staging of the Discovery of the Virgin Mary by the La Barqueta Cultural and Recreational Association, declared a Festival of Tourist and Cultural Interest in the Valencian Community. It will take place on Saturday, November 8, starting at 5:00 p.m., on Poniente Beach."
