Minute of silence in memory of the woman killed last Saturday in Rubí

16 October 2017
Minuto de silencio en memoria de la mujer asesinada el pasado sábado en Rubí

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; and the councilwoman of Igualdad, Paquita Ripoll, today have presided over the concentration to observe a minute of silence at the gates of Benidorm City Hall to condemn sexist violence after the last case in the Catalan town of Rubí last weekend. In the minute of silence the UK consul in Alicante, Sarah-Jane Morris was present; as well as representatives of the different municipal groups, public workers and neighbors.

On this occasion, last Saturday a man shot with a hunting shotgun at his ex-wife, a Spanish woman of 66 years, in the town of Rubí, after which he fled until he was found and detained by the Mossos d'Esquadra . This is the number 41 victim of male-dominated violence in 2017.
