The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has chaired, together with the councilor for Equality, Paquita Ripoll, the minute of silence that has been held at Plaza del Ayuntamiento as rejection by the three new cases of gender violence, an act to which several councilors have came from the different groups of the corporation, neighbors and municipal workers.
On this occasion, silence has been kept in memory of the last three women murdered by their partners or ex-partners. In the Castellón town of Borriol, a 35-year-old woman died at the hands of her partner last Friday, a case that has been confirmed today as gender-based violence. A 29-year-old woman has also been stabbed to death by her husband in the Asturian town of El Franco. The third case has happened in Madrid, where a 46-year-old woman was killed by her ex-partner.
With these there are already 33 women who have lost their lives in our country because of gender violence and 19 children who have been orphaned. The Department of Equality has reiterated that, before any suspicion of sexist violence, you can go to the toll-free telephone number 016, a number that is not reflected in the telephone bill but that it is convenient to delete from the mobile phone call register.
