Minute of silence in Benidorm for the forty-sixth victim of sexist violence in Spain in 2019

03 October 2019
Minuto de silencio en Benidorm por la cuadragésimo sexta víctima de la violencia machista en España de 2019

With the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, in the lead, the municipal corporation of Benidorm, public workers and neighbors, have obseved a minute of silence this noon, at the main door of the City Hall, in memory of the forty-sixth victim of sexist violence in Spain in 2019.

This is a case that was being investigated since last June 12, the day the victim disappeared in Málaga. After the appearance of her mortal remains recently, yesterday it was confirmed that it was, as feared, one more case of sexist violence, allegedly exercised by his partner. The woman had a younger daughter, which makes 38 orphaned minors in 2019 because of this social scourge.

The Department of Equality, every woman who feels threatened can be reminded to go to municipal services. It has also insisted on the existence of the toll-free number for victims, 016, which serves 52 languages, and leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is recommended to delete the call log.
