28 January 2019
Minuto de silencio en Benidorm tras una nueva víctima mortal de violencia machista

The municipal corporation of Benidorm, presided over by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has observed today a minute of silence at the gates of the City Council to condemn the latest case of sexist violence. The mayor and the councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, have joined all the councilors of Benidorm and several municipal workers and residents of the city.

On this occasion, the victim was a 69-year-old woman, allegedly murdered by her husband, 68, in the Sevillian town of Dos Hermanas. According to sources of the investigation the fact was denounced to the 112 by the own aggressor and by one of the three daughters of the marriage.

According to the official data of the Ministry of Equality, there are already five women who have died as a result of sexist attacks in 2019. The Council of Equality reminds women that they may be facing a case of abuse, as well as all citizens , who can go to the municipal services or use the toll-free number 016 against gender violence. The call is not reflected in the telephone bill, but it is advisable to delete it from the list of calls from mobile phones.
