'Marató de l'euro' starts, with Festes Majors Patronals at the finish point

The 2025 Commission for Major Patronal Festivals launched today a new edition of the traditional "Euro Marathon," a grassroots and charitable initiative aimed at raising funds to cover the November Festival.

At 10:00 a.m., on Tomás Ortuño Street, next to Hort de Colón, the Mayor and Children's Queens, Paula Pascual and Aitana Pérez, flanked by the Mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros; other members of the corporation; and the regional representative, José Ramón González de Zárate, jointly placed the first coin that will form a copper, nickel, and brass route along the entire route. Also present were, among others, the President of the Commission, Susana Martínez, and Jonathan López, President of the Verge del Sofratge Penyes Association.

Each linear meter holds 45 one-euro coins. The challenge is to walk as far as possible, which would provide a significant financial boost to the coffers of the Commission that organises the festivities.

The activity will last all day. Any resident or visitor who wishes to do so can visit Tomás Ortuño Street to help make this solidarity line, which, as every year, will aim to break its record for the longest line.
