The Local Police does a course to stop drug trafficking crimes

25 April 2024
La Policía Local se forma para atajar delitos de tráfico de drogas

Today, at the central offices of the Local Police, a training day is being held which, under the title 'The fight of local police against drug trafficking', brings together dozens of police officers and specialists. The meeting has been organized by the Professional Union (SPPLB), the majority in the Benidorm City Council, with the collaboration of the Department of Public Service.

The councillor of the department, Jesús Carrobles, participated in the inauguration of the course and thanked “the dedication and professionalism” demonstrated by the Benidorm Local Police officers who “are always developing to serve citizens.”

Carrobles recalled that in a city “that exceeds 400,000 people in high season”, on many occasions “the visitor's first contact is with the police officers” who must always “show the friendliest face of Benidorm” and "At the same time, protect and serve citizens, whether by guiding a driver or protecting the victim of any crime."

In addition to the person responsible for Citizen Security, the chief of the Local Police, Luis Arévalo, the local president of the Professional Union and member of the regional executive, Francisco Ángel González, participated in the opening ceremony of the day; and Professor Manuel Risueño.

During the training session, the agents will delve into aspects such as the crime of drug trafficking, the role of the Judicial Police, how to deal with drug crime from the Local Police, and cannabis clubs and study the court's jurisprudence.

Manuel Risueño is an officer of the Benidorm Local Police, a specialist in drug addiction crimes; a degree in Criminology and a master's degree in Criminal Justice System and, among other qualifications, a judicial expert in industrial and intellectual property crimes. He has been decorated and publicly congratulated by the Generalitat and other administrations on numerous occasions and is a professor at IVASPE (Valencian Institute of Public Security and Emergencies).
