The deadline is the 30th of this month, and businesses are reminded of the “necessary cooperation to respect the number of tables and chairs authorized”

Last days for restaurants to renew their authorization to occupy public space

24 November 2025
Últimos días para que los establecimientos de restauración renueven la autorización para la ocupación de la vía pública

The Department of Commerce has reminded restaurants that this week is the deadline to renew their permits for occupying public space, as stipulated in Ordinance No. 2 on the Use of Public Areas. The application period for the annual renewal of this permit, which allows the use of public space with restaurant furniture, remains open throughout November.

It has also been reiterated that the occupation of public spaces will not be authorised in cases where there are outstanding fees from previous years that have not yet expired. Furthermore, the Department warns that regulations prohibit the display of advertising on any of the authorised furniture in public areas, as well as soliciting customers and promoting businesses by approaching pedestrians.

The Councillor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, has called on “all establishments to cooperate by respecting the authorised number of tables and chairs” and stressed that “complying with these conditions helps maintain harmony with residents and visitors, facilitates pedestrian traffic, and ensures fair competition among businesses.” According to the councillor, only in this way “can we contribute to a more orderly and pleasant city for everyone.”
