La Barqueta rondalla (traditional string band) fills the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna in its Nadal Concert
La Barqueta Cultural and Recreational Association's rondalla (folk music ensemble) filled Sant Jaume i Santa Anna parish church with an audience yesterday evening to enjoy their now-traditional Christmas Concert.
Directed by Maestro José Antonio Pastor, the musicians of this group, with the collaboration of students from the Benidorm Musical Union's string and plucked string instrument school and their director, Manuel Esteve, offered a repertoire brimming with classic carols and Christmas songs, such as "Silent Night" and "The Little Drummer Boy." The first part was particularly moving, featuring two members of La Barqueta portraying a grandfather and grandson recalling scenes from Christmas. This year's recital concluded with the "March of Friendship," which the audience enthusiastically accompanied with clapping.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, along with other members of the municipal corporation, accompanied the president of La Barqueta, Francisco Llorens Orts, and enjoyed this endearing festival with the public, which was also enjoyed by the queen of Festes Majors Patronals 2025, Paula Pascual Sánchez; members of the senior and children's courts; and the president of the mayorales of 2026, Ramón Cano.
